Contesting, whether you are a one time a year contester or a casual contester, provides a unique opportunity to test your skill as an operator.  Although most contest are easy to join, you just have to listen to what’s going on, there are many great resources available to you.  The ARRL website has some excellent tips on contesting, how to start, what to do and how to prepare for the contest.  The ARRL also has a contest test calendar to help you find a contest that would fit your reqirements.
